THE SECRET
APARTMENT OF
SCHÖNBRUNN

A hidden gem can be found in the heart of Schönbrunn Palace. Hidden Vienna exclusively opens the doors to the Berglzimmer, Maria Theresa's secret appartments. A unique stay with an exotic flair.

In Vienna's most visited attraction there is a jewel that was once only intended for the eyes of Empress Maria Theresia and is only known to a few today. The Bergl Rooms have recently become accessible again and Hidden Vienna offers a view of the exotic longings of the great lady of Austrian history.

We enter a lush jungle full of wild animals and explore the time of Maria Theresia from a completely unknown perspective. How does a Bohemian painter get to paint such strange worlds without ever seeing them? Colonial experiments and expeditions stimulated the imagination of the Baroque Court in Vienna and thus created a breath taking masterpiece.

Our Route

We meet in between the imposing obelisks at the main entrance to Schönbrunn Palace. Behind an inconspicuous wooden door, hides an exotic South Sea island, which Maria Theresia used to escape from reality. These private rooms, which are closed to the public, still inspire dreams. We continue on the Bel Floor through the Great Gallery to the ceremonial hall.

The Selected Highlight Tour includes a tour of the Great Gallery and the Ceremonial Hall. Other rooms are excluded from this tour.
