VIENNA
GETS
MOVING
Hop onboard the history train and learn surprising facts about Vienna’s transport system. How come dead people used to travel by tram? See the unique metro stations by art nouveau artist Otto Wagner and find out how he influenced the Paris metro.
Why did Vienna miss its opportunity to become the city with the first underground system? The Viennese held on to their beloved tram and cosy hackney carriages for quite a long time. This changed when Otto Wagner decided to pay tribute to the modern age. He built the city railway which to this day exudes an air of metropolis. Much later, the underground finally arrived in Vienna.
Searching for traces of history we carve our way beyond the moat and into the most quaint underground line of Vienna.
